PAT COYAN
John Pat Coyan was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to George and
Mary Hannum Coyan. He lived his early years in Council Bluffs and graduated
from Lincoln High School in 1937. He was a 1941 graduate of Drake University
with a B.J. degree. He worked several years for the Standard-Times and
retired in 1981.
During World War II, he was in the Navy and spent most of his military
career as a blimp pilot at Naval Air Station, Santa Ana, Calif.
He married Lucille Foote on Aug. 5, 1944, at Trinity Episcopal Church in
Orange, Calif. They have one daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Michael
Amoroso of Northridge, Calif., and a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and
Sara Coyan of San Angelo. Pat and Lucille have a granddaughter, Christie
Webb and husband, Greg; three grandsons, Gregory Amoroso and wife, Sandra,
and Kinley and Bill Coyan; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jordon and
Cameron Webb.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Episcopal Church
of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Clifton Gardner, rector, and the Rev.
Robert Hedges officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.
