1850 Ohio census for John and Margaret Coyan

Below is a close up view of the 1850 U.S. census for John and Margaret Coyan. The record appears in Carroll county, Ohio, where they lived for the last 20 or so years of their life. Note that daughter Rebecca was still living at age 19. It was just a few months later that she passed away. She is buried in the Bethlehem cemetary in Carroll county, next to her parents. Notice also that sons Wilson and George were still in Ohio. It was a very short time later that they would head west to California via "the Isthmus of Panama" most likely in search for their "fortune", since gold had just been discovered in the area where they each settled.

Also important is the fact that that John states his place of birth in ca. 1784 as MARYLAND and Margaret's as VIRGINIA.
